Hi everyone !
First of all, congratulations for that wonderful simulation!
I just happen to have a slight problem : you keep talking about a "Shuttle Crew Operations Manual" available on NASA website in the manual. You say that it should be a 1000 pages document, weighing approximately 40Mb, but I can't find it !! I searched the whole website without success, even in google.
So if anyone could tell me where I can find it, or post a link, I would be very grateful, because the 100pages manual is a bit light to understand eveything in the shuttle !!!
Thanks in advance for the help.

Best regards.

Sorry to bother you again...
Just wanted to be sure this is the right file, because in the commander's manual, they talk about  a 40Mb file (twice the size of this one). And this one starts in the middle of nowhere (APU chapter).  And last thing, it talks about the older versions orf the shuttle with electro mechanical instruments, so I just wanted to be sure there was nothing more up to date before starting reading that huge file !
Thanks again for your very quick answer!

For information, i buy alittle paper manual (5$ on ebay). 180pages:

Description, schematic, wiring diagram and draws are inside!  ;)

Thanks !
I'll have a look at that.

I have the same thing here as well (be it a more recent version.. near-mint condition ;) ).
It's nice as an intro, but if you really want to use this sim,
you'll need something a bit more in detail.
It's a good read tough, it describes living and training in space as well.

And to reiterate the original request - does anyone at SSM know where we can find that Space Shuttle Bible, the great tome weighing in at 40MB and 1190 pages of space geek glory?? I would love to print that out in color at my office and bind it.

I can't seem to find this mysterious document anywhere on the NASA site. Does it exist? Or is this one of those Holy Grail type quests??

I am aware of a site that has a complete updated version of the Shuttle Crew Operations Manual, as well as over 1000 other, up to date NASA manuals, including the Mission Control manuals, past, present, and future missions flight data files, and breaking news.

The latest thread there show the pictures of the broken glass insulator that caused the Engine Cut Off Sensor failure that was the reason for the latest mission delay.

It is a shuttle freaks heaven. Very engineering oriented with many members from NASA, USA and Lockheed as members.

It is a different web site that charges a membership fee to gain access to the section that contains the files.

Since it is a commercial site, I will not advertise it here, unless the Admins say it is OK.

Please do not PM me on this. I will not use this forum to promote another site, unless the Admins approve.

Admins, please contact me if you have any questions on this. Delete this message if you do not want me to post the URL. My motivation is to contribute to the enjoyment of the shuttle program. Not make money for anyone.

That would be great if admin could authorize your post!
Anyway, thank you for your interest in this thread.

Best regards.

I would also be very interested in learning what the site is. So I hope the admins are OK with posting that info, or at least PM'ing.

Swhitt, what if I email you a request for that site? Would that be okay? That way we wouldn't technically be using the forum. I'm desperate for complete shuttle manuals. I'll pay anything, as long as I can still pay for electricity and broadband.  ;)

Operations Manual" available on NASA website in the manual. You say that it should be a 1000 pages document, weighing approximately 40Mb, but I can't find it !! I searched the whole website without success, even in google.

It's not available in the open, a slightly old (but not too bad) version, from 2003, is available in the L2 section of http://nasaspaceflight.com

NSF is where I found out about this site...

Thank you very much for that advice. I just took a 2 months subscription on that web site and the content is just huge !!!!
Totally worth the price.

Best regards.
