Dear Admin,
i am just wondering hows the new service pack coming along and when we will expect a release date roughly?
Thanks
The Service pack is currently undergoing Beta Testing.
/Admin
Can we expect a release date somewhere ;) next week?
did you finish all the rest of the missions? :P
yes i did and i am waiting for the service pack hoping that they will fix something about the the way the vc cocpit is viewed. Yes i like the way we zoom in, it feels very realistic, but its toooooooo "dam" :D close. I am not flying until this service pack will be realesed
We never commit to, or announce a release date for any add-on, sorry.

Holy amazing! STS-124!
Thanks Admin and your team! I'll be looking forward to this one!
More pre-1986 missions please!!!!
Can't wait for STS-124 KIBO ;D
Thanks Admin
STS-124!!! Thanks Admin for proving the theory " Ask for, And you shall recieve..." ;)
Whoo 124! Looking forward to completing the first shuttle launch I ever watched live. I love being an Aussie but afternoon shuttle launches get me out of bed on a Sunday morning at 5:50am

Sorry to disappoint in this department nikita. We won't change the zoom method - it is the best and as you say - it is realistic. It is not a simple optical zoom - this time you actually move your head/body to get closer to whatever you want - just as in real life.

Hmm - thank you for thanking me, but thanks should go to the SSM2007 Crew as a whole :)

With all due respect, our reference is the "New Missions" Poll here:

As you can see, ISS missions win hands-down.

Ahhhh 124!! Sounds good to me.
cool sts124 i watched this mission from beginning to end looking foward to playing it
As the new patch is going to increase the performance (I don't have any performance problems with my Core 2 Duo cpu and Nvidia 8800GTX card luckily :)) I hope that the performance boost might have an effect to recording SSM by using fraps. At the moment it is not possible to record or rather to play recorded videos at the correct speed. One second is about 2 seconds when watching recorded videos :( You can see this effect on a lot of SSM videos...
Talking about the zoom: I think nikita123 doesn't complain the zoom method (the zoom method is phantastic). He is talking about a too close eyepoint. I can see what he means especially when zoomed fully in it still seems close to the panels. But at least I have no problem with it. Looks great anyway.
that is exactly wat i mean ;D
So you refer to the Field Of View?
/Admin
yes, the new zoom in function i love, its very realistic. The Field of view ( I didn't know how to explain it properly before) is what is bothering me. Its tooo close to the panels ???
I know what you mean. but for people with small screens (or super high-res) the "too close" to the panel is the only way to properly read the gauges.
then there should be a separate version
have you gave a thought to the ability not to zoom in all the way? :)
i am not zommed all teh way, i am zoomed out all the way it can possible be. And its still too close to the panels

zoomed out? and you are too close?
what Res/screen size are you using?
i dont know man, i am using the highest possible. all my settings are maxed out. The field of view is too zoomed in even if u are zoomed out all the way

Nikita,
The Field of View has been adjusted to then max, while avoiding distortions which are similar to wide angle lenses. The current FOV is the best you can have and it's a compromise between distorsion and on-screen information. In real life you also need to move/rotate your head or eyes to see gauges, switches and MFD's as you realy don't have too many in your direct line of sight. Human eye has a limited general field of view (which we simulate) but only a narrow of useful field of view - one in which everything is in full focus. In our case you have the entire field of view in focus so it's actually slightly better than in real life.
For now we do not plan to change the FOV since increasing it ,will distort the view.

Hmm, interesting. Sounds fair to me.
I'm having another "problem" with the VC, though, and that the looking around-bit. I use my mouse to look around the virtual cockpit, but the camera seems a bit "sluggish". Like it seems to take extra effort to start moving, and have some sort of inertia so it stops slowly (hope this makes sense). Is there any reason for this? It's the same in the outside view.

This sounds very much like SSM running on a machine close to the official min-spec limits. Hopefully the upcoming Service Pack will help ;)

Admin might the service pack come this week.
Thanks

Nice try ;)
/Admin
I just thought it was worth a try. :D
My attempt:
Next week? :D
Only Joking, I'm a patient man, plus I've got buckets of missions to do. just doing STS-27, re-grappling the Lacrosse 1 Satellite.
@SSM2007 Crew,
Congratulations on the Matrox Frontpage :)
Hi Admin!
Gratz for Matrox Page from me, too! Tthe shuttle launch looks great!
But other question. Will there an editor in near future or an free simulation with random failure or malefunction events? (RTLS or auto pilot loss for example)
Thats really a feature I missing!

check out the suggestions and poll forums :)
it was said that as long as there are real life missions to simulate there would be no "fantasy missions" - later down the road, I really hope to see some crazy made up missions :)
when the updat will come i cant whate

The features set for SP2 is closed now and it is undergoing beta testing. It will be released when we are rasonably pleased with the results.

Hi Admin,
Thanks for the update. I'm ready to start my next STS Mission Booklet. ;D
