Dear friends,

Just so you know, ho, ho, ho: we are in our virtual VAB, preparing for our own "Return to Flight #2" :). Here is the latest report:

1. The ISS you all know from SSMS1 is all but gone. The new SSMS2 ISS is growing. We are currently working our rear burners off on improving the ISS model and adding all sorts of cool stuff to it - including the interior :) That takes a lot of time, attention to detail, information gathering, modeling and energy.

2. Although we already released some sneak previews of the new, high resolution Earth engine, we still have a lot to add to it to make it even more realistic, so bear with us.

3. The 3D cockpit is fully operational and the very few bugs reported by the Alpha Team have been fixed. That very complex and critical part of SSMS2 is behind us already 99%.

4. Same goes for the new 3D MCC: we have no bugs reported on that section, but there is additional functionality that we plan to implement there, so that part of the project is still open.

Add to all the above the tons of new "things" that we have in store: more and surprising missions, new comunications, improved mathematical models, etc. and you'll become very realistic about the chances of seeing SSMS2 on the shelves this Christmas.

On the other hand, when SSMS2 does arrive, we don't want any of you to have the slightest feeling that you've wasted your hard-earned money on a pathetic sequel. We want us to be rightfully proud of SSMS2, just as we are of "SSMS1".

We also want you to be as engrossed by, supportive of, and enthusiastic about SSMS2 as you've been of SSMS1. We want SSMS2 to be - as the late Steve Jobs would have put it - "insanely great" :)

So for now, MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANNUKA and HAPPY NEW 2012 (in 10 days from now <g>)

well this is some exciting new, thanks for the update.

Take your time and get it right.  It sounds like it will certainly be worth the wait.

And I just completed 41C on Hard,  (hard is right...) so I still got a few missions to get done on Hard before I will be in need of more shuttle missions!

The Shuttle will continue to fly thanks to SSMS v2!

Word on Facebook is we're still a year away from launch. I'd get comfy and find something else to do in SSMS2207

Well, I wasn't expecting it to be a year away from now. That's a bit of a shock...

Fly the SSMS 2007 missions again.  There is plenty of them, and let me tell you , on HARD, they take a bit of time.

As I said many times: releasing an unfinished or mediocre product is NOT an option for us. At release time it may still not be perfect, but at least it will be a complete and stable product, which honors the legacy of the Space Shuttle Program and the many people behind it - and of course, it is worthy of your $.

We don't want to fall into the marketing trap which is so characteristic today, and bind the sim release to a date instead of the product readiness. It may cost us more now, but in the long run, everybody will be much happier :)

Happy Holidays!

Hi, Guys!

That makes sense. It is definitely better to wait for a more stable SSMS 2 than to release a buggy SSMS 2 and it is definitely well worth the wait!!! Please keep up the excellent work on making the SSMS 2 the best space shuttle simulator game on this planet!!

                   Cheers,
                Vincent

I for one will wait for the final product, no matter how long it takes.

SSMS 1 has set the bar.  The existing product (ver. 1) can be played over and over.  Each mission can take days to complete if you choose.

In my view, Version 2 will add the eye-candy and improved UI that we have all be craving.  Other than that, I would want nothing changed as Ver. 1 makes the grade for me in mission simulation.

And don't forget, the Shuttle is gone forever.  Anything we do in simulation is a recreation of history.  History takes time.  Be patient.  If you need a change of pace while waiting on SSMS 2, look at the "freeware" space simulationr product whose name cannot be said in these forums, but it does being with an O. Exactly the same only different, and in the end you'll still be wanting your Ver 2 of SSMS.

Happy Holidays and a Happiest New Year!

Same as for PMDG products : better have quality and take more time than buggy and less time.
All the very best to all the team, and a happy Xmas (or whatever hollyday you celebrate) to all !
Look, there's a telescope out there !
