Just read on twitter a small patch is comming to fix a few issues with the last SP. Thanks for addressing these issues so fast. Not many other places would respond nearly as quickly. It is really appreciated. :)

not a dumb question at all...

twitter is a dumb website that allows to to get too much irrelevant information on too many irrelevant  things :) part of the global trend of getting waayy too much personal info out on the web.. :)

It happens to have a SSM page - which is the only reason to visit the site from time to time :)

LOL! I agree and disagree. As with any tool, the usage is in the hand of the user. So dumb users dumb the tool down, while smart users make it useful. Twitter is no different than email, VoIP, IM etc. It is only newer ;)

Basically Twitter is a very small and fast blog system with additional options for pushing SMS-like messages. Some use it to tell all their followers that they've just egressed the latrine, and got dressed. Some people find these kind of posts extremely interesting.

In our case, we use Twitter as a direct messaging channel between our Ground Crew (which is usually underground) and whomever is interested in what we do - customer or not. It is used as an informal "behind the scenes message-in-a-bottle".

Many of the SSM2007 Twitter messages do not make it as official forum announcements, and those who do, usually come after they found their way on Twitter ;)

One thing is sure however: you'll never see on the SSM2007 Twitter messages involving highly personal,  insulting, vulgar and unrelated snippets of "news" (or so we all hope)!

I use twitter having an RSS feed of the SSM twittersite in my firefox-bookmarks.
From time to time I click on the dropdown field and without even going on the twitterpage I know if something is new.
