Thank you Steve. May you rest in peace...
« on: October 06, 2011, 12:51:39 PM »
A moment of silence to honor one of the most influential persons in technology, marketing and business. He may have been controversial at times, and his style was not always appreciated, but it is undeniable that what he did with his company and to many of us, through his leadership, vision and products, was magical. Apple's Steve Jobs is no more:

Thank you Steve. May you rest in peace. Written on an iPad.

From the Think different ad campaign:

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. - Apple Inc.

Here’s To The Crazy One
http://techcrunch.com/2011/10/07/steve-jobs-the-crazy-one/

Yes, we were all robbed of 20 more "Steve years", because whether you like it or not, Steve touched every one of us either directly, through his creations, or indirectly, by forcing the competition to think different, to make better products and give better service to all of us.

I hope that his so early departure won't reverse the trend.

Steve's vision, has been taken everywhere man goes.

and a less known one
Hopefully, will be taken anywhere man goes in the future. I don't mean actual Apple entertainment products (but I'm pretty sure BEO mission crews will take at least one personal IPAD from some future variant). But his spirit will be in every touch screen and in every UI as the man pushed the technology years ahead. (Both from within Apple and of course from all their competitors)

I think it's a little funny how huge of a deal people are making out of Steve Jobs dying. Just 3 days after his death, Dennis Ritchie (creator of C and key developer of UNIX) also died and I haven't seen it publicized anywhere. His work has had a much greater impact on society.

It's not surprising at all, and this is not about comparing merit. You can't even compare the two, because each of them has been visible in a different "market". Dennis R .was not a mainstream public figure. I doubt many programmers, developers and hitech figures even knew of the guy, let alone the grandma playing with her laptop or iPad.

But I can d*amn bet anyone that the vast majority of the world knows about Apple, its products and Steve J. So despite the fact that SJ wasn't known to seek personal publicity, he was enough of a colorful person, providing great services and products worldwide, to receive the after-death attention he's been getting.

I bet Bill Gates (may he live long and prosper) will get the same attention after he leaves us.
