According to this article http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2010/06/discoverys-ssmes-removed-thursday-lpotp-issue/, launch date of the "STS-135" is 24th June (my feast day  :) )
And even better, NASA is "evaluating the costs of adding STS-136 in 2012"  :o
So let's say "Go 135, go 136!"

As much as I want to see more Shuttle flights, I also fear for the Astros. The Shuttle was planned for 100 flights and due to many on-going improvements in technology, procedure and materials, it has been significantly outliving its programmed life.

If NASA had a full 5 units fleet, I would feel much more comfortable, but having only three workhorses, they are not only "old" but also put to more work than planned.

I pray for their lives each time from liftoff until MECO and from Reentry until "wheels stopped". The more they fly it, the more I admire the genius and courage of the people behind the STS program. Let's hope it stays this way!

Totally agree with Admin. The more we use 'em, the more prone to danger our astros are. But as long as the teams do their job and stay focused, I'm sure the ground processing teams will make sure Atlantis, Endeavour and Discovery are in shape to make it to space and back in one piece before letting them launch. If they feel ready to support it, bring in 135 and 136. Of course, due to processing order (A-D-E), that'll put Discovery once again in the End of (STS) Flight Shuttle position. I'll go see 133 launch, and if that extension happens, I'll be there for Discovery's last as well.

"Welcome to space, guys. MECO! Who-hoo!!"

As long as the ground crews stay focused and do a thorough job, I think the shuttle fleet will be safe. Every day I get Twitter updates on my phone of all the major maintenance work the ground crews are performing on the Shuttles. They have a lot to check.
