Way back in 1985, Tim was asked by Bob Crippen to submit crew patch designs for STS-62-A, the first shuttle launch from Vandenberg. After the Challenger disaster, STS-62-A was canceled along with Tim's dreams of having one of his designs fly into space.
Fast forward to 2005. Tim's design for ISS Mission Expedition 11 was selected and his patch design flew in space for 179 days. He waited over 20 years for his dream to come true.
STS-126 was his first shuttle crew patch design that flew in Nov, 2008 and he followed it up with this month's STS-127.
Tim has yet
TWO MORE designs flying on STS-129 and Expedition 22 this November, 2009 (which are shown below).
