Well, that's really cool! Was in Naples, Italy (supporting the USN near AFSOUTH) when STS-1 took to the skies...and Italian TV showed it LiVE at that time. But, after a 10 year "stint" with the USAF [Patrick AFB FL] got out and supported Ops/Engineering/Software Engr as a Rockwell Int'l employee at KSC from 93 -97 after a deployment from Desert Storm... boy those were the days....  ;D

Origionally from New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Florida, about 40-60 miles north of the cape.  Anyone here from that area that fishes?  Nothing like putting in at Haulover Canal, heading out, then turning right to see the launch pads and VAB looking at you!  (Just don't fish past the white poles on the south end, or you'll get a visit from the nice men in helicopters, followed by an afternoon with fish and game sawing your boat in half) (The last part is a true story, for someone that I used to know, they were out drinking heavy and wanted to see how far south they could go.  After being arrested, Fish and Game literally sawed their 14,000 redfisher in half looking for terrorist weapons.  Of course 10 years later, and married, my wife convinces me to move closer to her sister in law in Hot, Humid Mississippi, forever leaving behind watching launches from my backyard :(
