Will Columbia and Challenger be added to any of the missions even though the actual Shuttles are no longer with us?

I am going to go out on a limb on this question and say yes. ;D

Cool.  Cause I think it would be interesting to see both Columbia and Challenger conduct current missions in addition to Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour.

Especially to the ISS.  ;)

To my knowledge the Columbia or the Challenger never went to the ISS. :(

Sean,

We are doing historical missions so we stick to the truth. You will get to fly Columbia and Challenger in their historical missions. As to their unfortunate and tragic end, we will cover it with a special add-on :)

STS-51-L would certainly make a nice 3-star mission with the SPARTAN-Halley satellite deploy and recover, along with a TDRS deploy.  It would make a nice add-on mission and tribute to be able to fly and complete that mission.

Well, I have to disappoint you here guys, but following the polls feedback which basically expressed the negative feeling our customers have regarding recreating these missions IN ANY FORM, we have suspended our plans of creating them.

The decision is final - for now.

I would actually love to see STS-51L and STS-107 simulated in SSM someday as well. As mentioned by mborgia, especially STS-51L would be an interesting mission.
I think it would be a nice tribute to have these two missions simulated in the way how they were intended and planned, to give the user the opportunity to complete them.
But I also think that, for now, there are many other very interesting missions that could (and should) be simulated first.

This has already been discussed before,
and iirc, the outcome was that it COULD be simulated,
but that would be after all the successful missions were done.
Use the search for more info on that topic.
