This is sort of a "back to school" for approach and landing procedures.
Prepare for some learning curve to match the new realism. If you did well previously, you will do well again, with a little dose of the "3 Ps" necessary for mastering SSM2007: patience, perseverance and practice.
A new manual is under works to better explain some of the new HUD modes and Uri is working on new landing training video(s).
Stay tuned :)

;D Thanks for the Service Pack!! Yet again, an awesome response to the community and an Endeavor (pun intended) of love indeed!!!
Thanks!!! ;)
Woah Monkey! Thanks for the most awesomest service pack! The landing are so much more fun and real now! Wow! Gentlest nudge of the joystick throws you off course! Amazing! Thanks guys! ;D
WOW! My practice landing of STS 124 was fun! Great service pack! ;D
Thanks a lot for that Servie Pack. The 2D HUD looks great now and similar to the 3D HUD finally (but the readings of the 2D HUD are just a little bit too big if you compare it with the real HUD; the previous readings were closer to reality). The new guidance also increases realism significantly I think. It makes A LOT of fun.
Thanks from me as well on the new SP :). I've only done a few landings, as I'm very busy with other things ATM ;). I like the new HUD operations and symbology. I look forward to the next upgrade ;)
;D Awesome landing the Shuttle now! Now to just master that tricky RMS .. grr! LOL :D
I have to agree on that landing!! I found it much smoother, Especially in that "terminal" stage where just a gentle tug on the nose is required. I definitely could feel the weight. (brick city)
As a big FSX fan I have to say that SSM2007 ROCKS!!
Regarding the service pack is it just me or is the pre-flare callout at the wrong altitude? Seems pretty high and early to me and I would anticipate it coming just as the bar begins to ascend. I also feel another good addition for landings would be the option to allow the 'pilot' to set up and deploy the landing gear to allow you to concentrate on a smooth landing combined with a bit more camera shake just as you touch down to simulate contact with terra firma again...
These are not criticisms just my own thoughts on a slight improvement on perfection.
you can use the gear keyboard shortcut (G naturally) - both for arming it and dropping it (one stroke each). - that doesn't require as much attention as going into the 2D panel to hit buttons.

For reference, You can check out
GROUND SCHOOL and look at the landing video. Also there is in-cockpit-landing video available on UTUBE. As far as the simulator goes, The audio and visual cues are a tremendous help, But being a FSX refugee sounds like your having no problems. Land as you see fit.
I'm absolutly in love with SSM2007 and cant wait to see whatelse is possible with this simulator... Ive played alot of R/L Sims and this is by far the best!!!! thanx and keep it up ;D
