This isn't a Shuttle mission, but I thought this would be the right forum to post it in.
NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory crashed into the ocean today after the Taurus XL's payload faring failed to seperate during the ascent profile of the mission. Because of the added weight, the rocket could not maintain sufficient velocity to escape the Earth's gravity and crashed into the ocean short of Antarctica.

I, sadly, missed the launch. I was hoping the OCO would get into orbit for those guys.
At least it didn't hit land, nor harm anyone.
