That 180-dome looks pretty immersive. Do you have any pictures of that setup?
And how was the event in general? Did you meet any SSM-fans?

Got to get me a dome :)
Looked like you guys had alot of fun.
Nice! Is there a (long) movie too?
What the.....that guy at 34 sec was landing the shuttle using a gamepad...Madness! :P
Well, after about 10 attempts he did land the Shuttle with the gamepad, but whadayawant? He's from NASA!

"He's from NASA, 10 attempts".
What is he, the cleaner??? ;D
Well, actually one of the Simulation dept guy - LOL! Others fared much better, with a girl - YES, GIRL! - landing on the first attempt!
IN YOUR FACE! :)

I hope Eileen Collins doesn't see that comment :)

Well, it's a compliment, and that girl was no Eileen Collins last time I've checked :). I Was hoping to rattle the cage a bit and find out if we actually have any girls on the forum...

Nah, I don't think so. Flight simulators don't have many, and this is even further out ;D
On the other hand, this might indicate that girls have better eyesight....
They seem to be able to see that it's all just little dots of light on a screen :o
But, man - do we have a lot of fun with those...

Why wouldn't there be any girls here?
Some of the greatest astronomers were women; the first belgian ESA astronaut was a woman, etc etc...
As for piloting the shuttle: I've seen plenty of girls flying our shuttle simulator at the Euro Space Center where I work, and most of the times, they do a better job at it...
On the other hand, the real astronaut corps consists mainly of men. Don't know why, but that's just the way it is.

well, there's some old women here :)
I've introduced SSM to a bunch of chaps at BAE Systems, they where impressed. I have a suspicion that a forum member is one ;)

"Old women"? We did have inquiries from "old women" - actually from the military - most of them Air Force officers (pilots?). I don't know if they purchased SSM2007 or not, but they seemed knowledgeable on the subject.
So I wouldn't be surprised if we have some reps of the "other gender" as customers, though I am not sure if they are in the forum.

I wonder how many other people who have purchased SSM07, have direct/indirect links to the Shuttle/NASA.
Speaking of links with NASA, and going off topic, have you considered a Boxed Retail version (same copy protection) where it can be sold at NASA Centers like KSC visitors complex? They currently have something (http://www.thespaceshop.com/shflsi.html), but I don't think it's a simulator like SSM07. ;)
Forgive me for mentioning this again, but......wouldn't NASA have a database of high resolution Earth textures? If so, I wonder if close links with them could be a cost effective means of obtaining this kind of data....
