Got this shot of my hometown on STS-27... The colored circles are these cities... Yellow = My home of Evansville, Indiana... Purple = Clarksville, Tennessee... Red = Nashville, Tennessee... Green = Huntsville Alabama... White = Tallahassee, Florida

Hehe, good idea...
Unfortunately I don't think the shuttle has ever passed directly over Denmark (not on a non-classified mission at least), so it's too far away to to even mark out Copenhagen, must less the suburb in which I live.
I have seen the shuttle and the IIS though. In June 2007 (Yes, that mission IS in SSM2007) on a very nice summer evening, we were sitting with some firends in the garden. Suddenly a very bright 'star' moved rapidly to the south. It was not a satellite (too bright and too fast) and not an aircraft either (not strobes). Then to the southeast, it suddenly winked out as it passed into the Earth's shadow. I said that it must have been the ISS, and if lucky we might get another glimpse on the next orbit in about 90 minutes.
But after just 20 or 30 minutes, it appeared again on the same trajectory - and then it dawned on me: The shuttle had just been launched within 24 hours before, and what we were seeing was the shuttle matching orbit with ISS. Now that was a treat for a space nut like me :)

STS-99 went that far north (inclination=max. latitude). I live about 15km south of Denmark.
I live in that green spot ;D
Which green spot?
Huntsville, AL
Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
We were soooo close to having a shuttle launch outta here back in the 80's.
Washignton, DC althought grew up in Miami, FL and took many trips up to KSC to watch launches. Back in 1997, I had the privledge of flying a Cessena 172 at night nearby during a launch and what a site that was. During a legislative conference back in 2002 when I was Senate President, I had a private tour by a NASA official and got to see the Leonardo and Michaelango that were going to ISS.
Very interesting on how you were abel to point out the cities on the map. Nice screen shot.
Thanks I'm glad you like the screenshot... I used Google earth as a reference for locating the cities... Evansville was easy to find I grew up on the Ohio river and I could see the bend in the river where my town sits from my first flight on STS-1... I'm interested in seeing other screenshots from people highlighting their towns and surrounding cities for geographical reterence
New Windsor NY. Any crew up here?.

Hey, that's great. So all I gotta do now is sit and wait (no Next Event) until the orbit matches... Maybe I'll just do that!
christra: 15 km south of DK - that would make it just outside the border-shop(s) area, or?

Here is a picture of Discovery flying right over my house. ;D ;D ;D
During STS-114, while approaching ISS on July 28 2005, Discovery happened to perform its backflip maneuver over Switzerland. It was a beautiful day with almost no cloud coverage over our country, which allowed the ISS crew to take some stunning and breathtaking pictures. This one and some more images from that series can be found in highres quality here: http://space.epfl.ch/page57916.html
This photo sure is the coolest picture of my house anybody has ever taken! (Even if a few other houses got in the picture as well.) ;)

lol wolfast. Spartanburg. I'm from Melbourne, Australia. Most shuttle missions will pass over us as they head for home, either doing a deorb burn or having completed it and just waiting for heating of the TPS to begin.

Las Vegas, NV. But during my 25+ years with the Air Force (prior to retirement 5 years ago) I was stationed at Vandenburg AFB in California in the 80's when they were planning on doing Shuttle launches from there. It never happened of course, but I've been to the launch complex there for the shuttle and it's incredible. I also spent 4 years in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs, CO working SPADOC (Space Defense Operations Center) and 5 years at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, with Air Force Space Command. You learn some cool stuff working in those environments.

By "port side of the NOSE" I think that Uri means "West of the Dead Sea, North of the Gulf of Eilat/Aqaba and South of Lebanon".
I wonder where that could be, Hanna Montana ;)

Well, that's really cool! Was in Naples, Italy (supporting the USN near AFSOUTH) when STS-1 took to the skies...and Italian TV showed it LiVE at that time. But, after a 10 year "stint" with the USAF [Patrick AFB FL] got out and supported Ops/Engineering/Software Engr as a Rockwell Int'l employee at KSC from 93 -97 after a deployment from Desert Storm... boy those were the days.... ;D
...I´m from Lohmar, which is located near Cologne, Germany...
Origionally from New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Florida, about 40-60 miles north of the cape. Anyone here from that area that fishes? Nothing like putting in at Haulover Canal, heading out, then turning right to see the launch pads and VAB looking at you! (Just don't fish past the white poles on the south end, or you'll get a visit from the nice men in helicopters, followed by an afternoon with fish and game sawing your boat in half) (The last part is a true story, for someone that I used to know, they were out drinking heavy and wanted to see how far south they could go. After being arrested, Fish and Game literally sawed their 14,000 redfisher in half looking for terrorist weapons. Of course 10 years later, and married, my wife convinces me to move closer to her sister in law in Hot, Humid Mississippi, forever leaving behind watching launches from my backyard :(
