you just made my day!

Hi, Cthulhus!
SSMS2 is looking really good! Thanks!
Cheers,
Vincent

Wow... Check out the detail in those tiles on the OMS pods! Awesome. And the cargo bay doors too...
-
Check out the detail in those tiles on the OMS pods! Awesome.
Yes. The pods are mirrored though, which becomes obvious immediately. But it still looks great.
-
I also noticed in the monitor, a much more detailed version of the STS-1 Developmental Flight Instrumentation, now with the keel attach showing, something that SSM 2007 did not model. Hope these upgrades will be implemented for all SSM 2 payloads.
-
Nice, keep up the good work and we keep up the good hope :)
Go Steam Green Light, many will vote :) I'd like to show off hours recorded in SSM2! :P

Yes, all payloads and 3D models are new. (and you didn't see the ISS :) ) Right now, The virtual cockpit isn't finished yet, more details to comes like bump mapping, details ...
And by the way, first post updated with new images :) Hope you'll like it !
We have some issues with some s****d bugs and stuff so far, so it's why I'll wait a bit more for a new build to make a video.
-
I can see that Columbia don't have the black part of the wings :(
-
Yes, we are working on the "normal" set. Variation is on the plans. (except the cockpit I'm afraid). My dream is the fly the old space shuttle ! much more interesting :)
But maybe later who know...
-
The detail is amazing. The new earth also looks great 8)

i agree

Very Nice!
-
Just fantastic! The pic of the aft deck really makes the detail shine! Getting giddy again about this.
I'm on STS-116 in my 4th run through all the missions. Once I complete the last one, I'm retiring SSM2007. Currently looking for a museum to store it in. ;)
-
Thanks for the new screenshots, Cthulhus. I am really looking forward to returning to the Space Shuttle. It's been several years since I used SSM2007, so I will have to learn it all again!
-
thanks you guys ! New screens will be uploaded later since week from my STS 8 tests ! Stay tuned!

No, for now it's dummy. And like you, I have two of them (CDN PT1A) timer ! My shuttle's touch in my house and my wife don't know that this timer was on a real space shuttle !
-
Nice very very nice, Can't wait. Keep up the good work.
-
Wow, this looks so awesome. Can't wait to try this! Keep up the amazing work!
-
WOW impressed can not wait hopefully those little quarks are fixed too.
-
And I hope they fix the minor issues..like those orange/yellow squares on the SRBs during launch..those are covers and not their when launched.... ::)
-
Beautiful. That's all I can say to describe what this is. Can't wait for the release, however far away it is! :)
-
Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but will the 3D cockpit be interactive?
Or will we still have to go to the 2D view to slip switches, etc.?
Anyways. it looks great. Can't wait to take it for a few spins around the planet.

I use mine every single day for almost four years now. It wakes me up in the morning; it reminds me when 45 minutes are over (I am learning the complete theory for airline pilots at the moment, including multiple choice testing) and I use it for cooking and sports. The batteries that came with it are still not depleted. It even drowned once in the dishwater - I just opened it, let it dry overnight and it just worked perfectly again the next day.
No miracle NASA chose this timer. It's very reliable.
-
Any news cthulhus?
-
Any news cthulhus?
No :) Still have the shaddow bug, can't make a video with that, waiting for next build and hope that will be fixed.
-
These are fantastic!! Thanks for posting! Renewed hope and excitement!!! ;D

I really hope that the launch into orbit is now seamless as far as Earth graphics are concerned. One of the big annoyances of SSM2007 for me was the way that the high resolution Florida suddenly transformed into a low resolution version at a certain altitude. That seriously destroys the sense of realism, and also messes up videos of the launch from an external perspective. This also needs to be the case when returning to Earth.

That will be fixed a bit (a lot) by the new global earth resolution that we use now on SSMS2. But we can't have a full earth resolution like the one we use just for Florida.
Right now the program is prepared to use 250 meter per pixel textures on the whole globe. All in all 3168 textures.
That means 12.6 gigabytes of textures and masks for the globe allone ;-P.
The textures resolution you see now is still over 8 times higher then the original high resolution for SSM2007.
-
Yes, I can appreciate that super high resolution textures are impossible for the entire globe. However, what I am hoping is that the transition from those textures to the 250 metre per pixel textures will be a lot smoother, and not so obvious :)
-
Really Awesome! *speechless*
-
Are we going to have sts-3 in the game and white sands?
-
Are we going to have sts-3 in the game and white sands?
Not for now, the current focus are all ISS missions. Maybe later.

All iss???!?! :,(
-
So, when SSMS2 will come out, it will have ISS mission only and not previous missions ??
-
I would hope that all of the missions in SSM2007 would be included in SSMS2....
-
Hi, mogget!
I wouldn't doubt all of the missions in SSM2007 would be included in SSMS2. SSMS2 is the complete overhaul of SSM2007 with many new features!
Cheers,
Vincent

Awesome, Cthulhus. That is good news!

Hi, cthulhus!
That is excellent news! I cannot wait until I go up to orbit with high inclination orbit and the launch from vandenburg AFB! Thanks!
Cheers,
Vincent

No missions from Vandenburg. No fiction mission for now.

Hi, cthulhus!
Got it! That makes sense! Thanks!

Vincent
-
Hi, cthulhus!
Question for you, what kind of new missions will be included in SSMS 2? Thanks!
Cheers,
Vincent
-
ISS missions ;D
-
Hi, Mogget!
I think the SSMS 2 will have the Mir missions too!
Cheers,
Vincent
-
That would be very nice, Vincent. The STS-74 Atlantis mission would be extra special, as that was the one sitting on Launch Pad 39-A when I watched the launch of STS-73 Columbia LIVE from Pad 39-B at the KSC on 1995 October 20
-
Did someone say Mir? ;)

Yes indeed but not at day 1 I'm afraid. As you know we are sooooo late so we had to cut some things. Mir missions will comes later.

There will be the STS-114? The Return to Flight mission after Columbia's Disaster?
-

I don't know yet, I don't have all mission on my head right now but it's really the kind on mission that we look forward to put on SSMS2.
Like SSMS1, mission will be added after release.

Sorry for the late reply, but ABSOLUTELY beautiful, can not wait for the release date, hopefully I will have my own custom computer at that time, mine unfortunately has issues with ssms07 with anti-aliasing. I'm not trying to get anything super powerful, just enough to run FSX steam and SSMS2. Most mid-level hardware out today is the same as the hi-end hardware from around the time FSX and SSMS07 came out.
Since on subject of computers and hardware and such, will SSMS2 be compatible with Windows 8.1?, what about say the upcoming windows 10?.. to soon for that one?
-
Hi, JLM!
I know! I'm very excited about the SSMS2!! I think the Windows 9 will be out before windows 10.
Cheers,
Vincent
-
Windows 9 has been bypassed, Vincent. Windows 10 will be the next release after 8.1.
-
Hi, Mogget!
I saw that on the Internet. I sure hope the SSMS2 will work on windows 8/8.1 & windows 10.
Cheers,
Vincent
-
Nice, the more ISS missions the merrier for me! Looking forward to it, and following your progress. Keep the Shuttle alive Exciting Sims!
-
how is it going with the video?
-
What is happening??? it's so quiet
-
yeah just waiting patiently
-
It will be released very very soon !
-
It will be released very very soon !
how do you know??
-
Hey Developers what's going on with this simulator is it going to launch or not we're all still patiently waiting here ::)
I think you're confusing the forum mods here with developers... AFAIK, the forum mods are simply lucky enough to alpha/beta test the software. As testers, they merely feed back to the developers what doesn't run/work right. I don't think Exciting Simulations have ever directly spoken on these forums.
I'm also making an educated guess here that they also have "day jobs" to do as well which is why we only hear from them when there's a meaningful update.
In all fairness to the forum mods, when 2007 was new and being actively developed, they were regularly vocal on the forum and helping folks out. I have no doubt that it'll be the same again with SSMS2
-
yeah but I think it's just wrong to falsely say that this game is coming out soon with no evidence to back up that claim.
Your comment proves that you wait desperately this product, you probably have better things to do than wait, knowing that you do not even know if it will come out this year ... I suggest you forget it and find an other occupation pending.
-
I understand Ken's frustration. I am really looking forward to SSMS2, and it would be nice to have some new screens (or maybe even a video), but after what happened last time, I am just going to wait patiently for updates.
On a side note, "Admin" doesn't seem to post here as much as he used to, but maybe that will change when SSMS2 is released?
-
<snip>... to get the facts first rather then coming here looking like an arse.
Ok mate, I'm no mod, but lets keep things civil... The best part of this game is the community... A) I dont want to see this fine community go to pot, but B) Going on the full offensive like this is only going to get this thread locked... Lets just keep this thread for actual SSMS2 updates yeah?
MECO
-

I know mate, I've noticed this too... Most of the mods (let alone Admin) have gone pretty quite during the SSM2 development, but all were very vocal in helping folks out whilst 2007 was in active development.
Your hopes echo my own :)
-
Released, yes. Soon, not as much...
Currently the game is under development, there is still lots and lots of work to be done.
If to borrow a common phrase from a different sim. "It will be released when ready... It will probably take 3 to 4 weeks" ;) (and if you don't know it already, to avoid any confussion, it's not a literal time frame)
-
Thanks uri_ba, Can't add more
-
Ken, why continue? Seriously? It's not necessary. Please just drop it and move on
Thanks
-
It will be released very very soon !
well I don't think it is right that the OP of this post should be sprouting off about this when he has no clue what's so ever about what he is posting about. no this is not about post counts or anything like that. this is about posting FALSE information for those of us waiting for this game to see getting our hopes up. if one should post such false information they should have taken the time to think about what they are posting and do some checking to get the facts first rather then coming here looking like an arse.
me either maybe the OP of that comment made about this will shut up now ::)
Dear kenralyon,
I do not appreciate the fact that you insult me, knowing that I never insulted you. Your comments are the same as the one I quoted previously, they prove your frustration. If you don't want to see this topic locked, stop insulting others.
-
Maybe you could also stop posting inaccurate information? You have no idea when SSMS2 is going to be released, so please stop giving people false hope.
-

I agree with this statement. plus I did not insult any one.
ok stop!

Hum, what is an arse ?
Maybe you could also stop posting inaccurate information? You have no idea when SSMS2 is going to be released, so please stop giving people false hope.
You ask me to stop something that I've stopped doing ... Have you seen another inaccurate information message since the first?
You find that this justifies insults ?
You can continue to provoke me if you want to see this topic closed...
-
I did not intend to insult you, Braker. If that is the case, then I apologise. It probably wasn't a good idea for me to get involved, but I just want any information released here to be accurate.
-

There is a misunderstanding, I never accused you of insulting me... Maybe I misspoke because I'm French...
-
I agree.
