PS: Welcome Sir!
Congrats!!! Now start saying goodbye to family and friends as you'll get addicted to want to spend plenty of time simming. ...Family and friends ...I guess these are the greater bug of this sim...lol :D
Thanks to you too uri_ba. Well i think you post a lot of training video on youtube right ? ;D This is cool. It's a great stuff for me and you do a great job. Gratz !! ;Dyeah,
Welcome aboard !
Bienvenue à bord :)

Welcome aboard ! ;)
Welcome Blaze and have fun in orbit ! :D
Probably a trifle late to make my initial introductions ;)
Anyhow... I'm in QA, studied aero engineering, and have been flying simulations since 1982.
Still remember "Lightning Simulator" for the ZX48 which had analogue controls (keyboard), a gun cam, ILS, in flight refueling, and with it the (completely unreasonable) ability to fly from the UK to (say) Kuwait, and V and N limits for stores and flaps/gear.
Another new guy checking in here!
I played the demo through several times and I finally went and bought the game (thankfully), and now I'm addicted and haven't stopped playing for several hours straight! Looking forward to meeting the community!
Hey there, had SSM2007 since last Thursday, played the demo STS-1 mission and was totally hooked on it.Wait until you get to the new rendezvous and docking. I have only done TORVA twice and that is all I have done since the new SP came. (Way too busy with school :() And I am a veteran or very close to one and I still have a bit of trouble with it. The RMS ops at least for me will come and will become as easy as OMS burns. Well not exactly but you get what I am saying. :)
I'd just like t0o say what an excellent sim it is. It's so good, I even get butterflies at 9:00 hold waiting to Launch Control to give the go for launch just like I do on real launches ;)
I'm currently on STS-8 and trying to work out how to use the RMS arm - it's probably the hardest job on the entire shuttle!!
Hi All, Time to introduce myself - I've been a "lurker" on this forum since getting SSM about 6 months ago, mainly because lack of time meant I was only able to slowly complete a couple of missions.
...<SNIP>... Thanks for reading, any other Australians on here?
My name is Fred and I'm currently 53 years old.... well 54 tomorrow.
Good day mates!, have you guys wrestled any crocs lately or threw a boomerang or seen a Kangaroo lately mates? :D ;D
I was only kidding , I hope I didn't affend you guys.
You can try the "Ground School" and the "Help, Hints & Tips" sections on this forum..
Also, there is plenty of info on the Wiki site (Tutorials and Media section) - http://wiki.ssm-fans.info/
Here's another site that can provide help too: http://portal.ssm-fans.info/index.php/blog

Hi everyone! After some doubt I made the step and bought myself a copy. Already completed the first mission without too many problems, looking forward to the real work.Hi Jason,
I'm Jason, born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 18 years of age and studying Aerospace Engineering. I'm not quite sure what I wan't to do after I finish my study, but becoming an astronaut crosses my mind now and then.. though I think the chance is little. But for now, this is the closest I can get.
Might be a bit late, but I want to wish everyone the best for 2010, the last year of the shuttle. I'll keep you updated on my progress! ;D
... Great sim. Finished SST-51A today and I must say it was very stressful. LOL.
Go KU!

Hi all, My name is Colin from Scotland UK, after having tried the demo a few times I ordered the full sim at the weekend, have added the SP and patch and look fwd to learning this simulation, also watching the live Shuttle STS-131 launch today on NASA TV.
Cheers.
Good morning all,
As a long time space junkie and flight sim addict, I've been waiting for many years for a realistic space simulation to come out. When Space Shuttle Mission debuted, I knew I would eventually jump on board. Now that I'm out for three weeks recuperating from some minor surgery, I saw no reason not to buy it. One word: Wow! I'm a sucker for procedures and immersion and Space Shuttle Mission is simply amazing in that regard. I was so wrapped up in it last night after installing it, I forogt to take my pain meds! That's what you call therapeutic.... To the developers I say thanks for an amazing sim that is the obvious product of a lot of hard work, dedication and attention to detail. Needless to say...my wife doesn't share my enthusiasm :)
Long time flight simmer, back to the subLogic days on an Apple 2, and long time user of Shuttle. I was actually born the same time Apollo 11 lifted off.
Tried out the demo a couple days ago, and bought the game that night.
Looking forward to seeing more of the missions get added as time goes by.
just downloaded the game last week really good simulator
After a few glitches with the program skipping steps and a horrible time landing, I finally finished STS-1.
This is the most amazing computer game ever. I applied to NASA ASCAN last year in the hopes of this kind of experience...but this is as good as it will get for this man and now my kids can join in the fun too...

Hello everybody,
I'm new here, I'm from Germany and after a visit to Merrit Island this May(including KSC Admission, Astronaut Training Experience and Launch viewing of STS-132 from Titusville) I am more addicted to the STS program than I ever was.
I found this simulator 2 weeks ago and I am looking forward to accomplish all the provided missions one by one. Yesterday I finished STS-51A, you did a great job with this sim, keep up the good work! I'll try to finish all missions before SSM2010 is getting released, because then I can start all over again! ;-)
I can't wait to fly my first ISS mission, this stuff is so great! I am really glad to be part of this terrific community now, I could spent hours (wait... I acually do) reading your discussions about radiator deployment and all that.
So, to make a long story short: great sim, great community, for long fun evenings to come!
Good luck with your missions and see you all in orbit! Godspeed!
Cheers,
Ronin
Don't worry Dan! Not everybody here speaks fluent English, but that's no problem. We are all bound by the passion for Space Exploration and that's more than enough :)
Welcome to the community!

Hello to all,
I'm happy to be aboard. This looks like it will be a very educational and entertaining sim. I look forward to getting into the many missions presented. So far I have only completed STS-1, and am now ready to move forward.
By the way, my many thanks to the admins who helped me get set up here when I e-mailed them a problem I had getting registered. I appreciate the help.
Kind Regards.
Greetings everyone. Astronaut noob here. I'm not sure how I ever missed that this sim was available because I'd been looking for a Shuttle sim for ages, ever since the really old one I had quit working.
I'm very excited by how nicely implemented this one seems to be, and I'm looking forward to many, many hours of fun and learning.
Dave
Hi everyone,
I bought my copy of the game around thanksgiving and i can stop playing it. I use to play the microsoft flight sim x and was about to buy a shuttle for that game when I stumbled across space shuttle mission in youtube (the trailer for the game).
I was impressed with the video so I downloaded the demo and played it, at first glance thought the graphiecs were not as good as fsx but interaction with the shuttle out did fsx (all switches, nobes, buttons worked).and was hooked from then on out,I am a long haul truck driver and every chance i get I am playing on the sim. I am currently working on the mission sts-51A and completated sts-1-8-41C and the ares test launch rocket. I am a life long customer for space shuttle mission sim.

Hello everyone. I've owned the boxed copy of SSMS for almost three weeks now and have completed STS-1 and STS-124. This is so much fun, and honestly this is now my favorite sim. I've been flightsimming for 15 years (MSFS, X-Plane, etc.) and have never enjoyed any of those to the level I do with SSMS. I have always been fascinated by the space program and the space shuttle, and it's such a blast to get a first hand look into what all is involved. I am looking forward to all of the missions and hours upon hours of fun with SSMS.
Hi
Well i finely got this fantastic sim and wow it is great the only thing is im getting a sore back side from sitting in front if the pc all these hours lol ;D
Greetings, after playing the demo i was hooked, i fought a losing battle of waiting till the next gen of the game would come out, and purchased the collectors edition . All i can say is that you have made a magnificent sim, must be, the wife is glaring at me and holding a to do list.Hi Rick,
Hello,my name is Henry and after 20 years in flightsimulation i bought the Space Shuttle Mission 2007. Its a great thing and thats what i am looking for !
I am from Germany and i hope to find a good community and sometimes a little help. ;)
Cheers Henry
Hi
I've Just bought The Collectors Edition and its a big step forward from the original Space shuttle from the early days which i still have somewhere :)
I've only just scratched the surface of the sim, but from what i've seen its excellent - highly recommend it to anyone thats into flightsims or fancy something challenging.
I cant wait for the new version :)
Hi One and all - Managed to sign up after realising my error lol.
Got this sim and manged to do a few of the missions so far and am extremely impressed with the immersion of it. I think the last shuttle sim I had was on a TRS-80 (showing my vast age there).
May the last shuttle go as well as the first and all come home safe.
John - Wilts UK
Hi there, I'm a new comer. Played the free version(shuttlesim.be) long time ago and last week I decided to try the demo version and ended up buying 1 even though SSM2 is on its way very soon. A pilot in real life but doesn't help much in commanding space shuttle. :PWelcome Astrotech,
I've completed STS1 and STS8 mission so far and stuck at rendezvous with the satellite on STS 41C. Hope to learn from all the guru here :)
Hello everyone.
I just purchased SSM 2007, my first Shuttle simulator since one just called "Shuttle" made for the PC in the early 90's. Like many others the culmination of the program re-sparked my interest in a simulator.
Normally I would not purchase a 4 year old program for which a sequel has already been announced but I also realize that the sim market is not PC gaming's most robust sales branch and every bit of support helps insure there will be a future version. That said, SSM 2007 stands up very well in the current market. So I consider it a good investment.
Thank you for turning your passion for the Shuttle Program into a simulator we can all enjoy.

Thank you both for the welcome!
Yes it was Shuttle - The Space Flight Simulator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuttle_(video_game)) I was referring to. I no longer have the discs (they stopped working years ago) so I haven't tried the program in years.
One thing I particularly liked in that title was the inclusion of the Enterprise flight tests. That could be a good inclusion for SSM2, if it has not already been suggested ;)
Thank you both for the welcome!

You can get it for free online since it is not produced anymore.

Not really.
It's still copyrighted and as such, "getting it for free online" is piracy. Even buying for downloading it, is piracy. The only legal way to get it is to buy an old copy from specialized traders.
The fact that it's not produced anymore is completely irrelevant. You are right only when it's declared as "public domain" by its developers, or publisher, or whomever holds the rights to the title, or wait for (I think) 30 years until it goes into public domain by default.
/Admin
...Didn't know that, since it's available on some legal sites, even including the complete manual (as pdf) :o
I had contact with one of the producers a few years ago. He was very surprised that people not only remember the sim but also still play it ;D There was a little smalltalk and mentioning that it's available here and there but he said nothing regarding piracy. However, there was a try to use their extracted instrument panel graphics to create an addon for [that other] space flight simulator. It was not possible due to copyright...
Yes, we too know of some developers who try to use our graphics as well (scenery and panels, but not only) - we watermark our designs, so we tracked and documented that. For the time being we are keeping quiet, bu that may change in the future ;)
The old "Shuttle" rights belong to Virgin. The only legal versions are available on floppies or CD, in their original boxes. The "downloadable version" is pirated. If it's sold on a site as a download, I'd question the legality of that site, or of their actions.
I own a 5 1/4, 5-floppy version with box, manuals AND poster in mint condition (although I doubt that the floppies still work). It's NOT for sale :)
I hope that our boxed SSMS:TCE will become a collector's item too, once SSMS2, SSMS3 etc. are released <G> I have one box of each language - LOL!
Virgin is well and alive: did you hear about Virgin Galactic? LOL. Virgin Games belonged to them and when they closed it, they retained all the rights.
Send in a picture of that new Amiga running the Shuttle. That is indeed a collector's item belonging in a museum. If the museums having the real shuttles on display have any imagination, they should go for such a display. And add SSMS1 too ;)
...SNIP...
I wonder what must it be like to fly SSMS in 20 years from now... :)

If there will be an affordable Personal Holodeck by then, you can bet your life we'll integrate with it.
Hi
I am happy that I went into SSMS community.I really like simulators especially missiles and aircraft. I bought the game two years ago because I liked very much.I have 14 years, and I'm from Romania.
Thanks
Cristi
Hello hello.
I bought the sim the other day. I've thousands of hours in MS Flight Sim and Shuttle Space Flight Simulator and I'm in the aviation industry, so the checklists and procedures weren't too alien for me. I've completed STS-1 and STS-8 and am about to start my next flight. I guess the biggest challenge for me has been RMS operations, and I can't quite get my head around how to move it with my joystick, so I've been sticking to the NUM pad.
Anywho, great work on the sim. I highly anticipate the next release. 8)
Thanks Pappolus :)You're welcome :)
