Title: Did you see what I saw?
Post by: kbkline on February 25, 2011, 04:40:15 AM
What hit the bottom of the shuttle while the main External Tank was still attached before the roll? It almost looks like a tile flew off of the top, hit the tank, then hit the bottom of the shuttle. I doubt it was a tile but it was square and good sized........  :-\

OK they just addressed it: it was just a big piece of foam from the tank  8)

Yeah, that was a BIG piece of foam. BTW, there was more falling off about 2 mins before MECO. I do hope that the OBSS run will be clean.

They were well past the point where atmospheric drag and pressure would have caused a problem with the detached foam.
