We are now less than 12 hours away from launch.

RSS retract time officially listed as 23:58pm.


Probability of KSC weather prohibiting tanking:  0%   
Primary concern(s):  Showers within 20NM of  the SLF, cumulus clouds.
Probability of KSC weather prohibiting launch:  30%

I have to go to school so if anyone can take over it would be great.

The great thing with night launches is that if it is dark enough, it can be seen from Miami.  Although currently I am in DC so I will have to view from the TV.

Did anyone see it? I live in West Palm Beach and I could see that amazing Shuttle lifting up, I mean the glow of the booster rockets was imense! Just before I saw it come over the house line, there was this huge glow of orange throught the sky, It was really cool.

Its been a while since ive seen one, and living 3 hours away from KSC still gives an awe of that shuttle lifting up to space. Was really incredible, I could actually see the space shuttle with my binoculars. And the ME were visible too.

Some interesting news on CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/11/15/shuttle.endeavor/index.html?eref=rss_topstories)

KU Antenna looks like it has a problem. I've heard that there is a manual workaround in progress. However if the KU-ant fails more, they swap to Star Tracker for getting to the ISS.

The thermal blanket might not be in a area on 'Major concern'. An RMS/OBSS inspection has been completed, results in next few hours.

I just heard on NASA TV that it was not a thermal blanket. It was either ice or an optical illusion.

BTW, who is the woman who does the commentary on NASA TV? She has the most soothing voice I have ever heard!

They won't know the state of the KU radar until 150,000 feet (was it feet?) out.

Enable Rendezvous Navigation in work. (Rndz CL Block 7A).

This puts Endeavours on board guidance computers into Rendezvous Navigation needed to support the upcoming rendezvous and docking.

Target track setup should now be in work. This pre loads UNIVERSAL POINTING screens with the required data so the Shuttle can begin to track (point at) the ISS after the next burn.

Just wanted to mention all info come from nasaspaceflight.com. :)

the Ku can provide data at greater ranges much than 135K, it's just that operationally the measurements aren't used until inside of 135K as the range measurements are corrupted beyond 142K. The 7K difference is to be conservative and ensure no bad data is processed in the nav system.
As well, the Ku can provide quality data down to 100 ft minimum. For ISS flights, the angle measurements become noisy at close ranges, but the range and range rate values are solid. Again, operationally, it's just easier to stop processing all measurements.

Star Tracker angles being taken to AUTO.

This incorporates good star tracker 'marks' on the ISS into the rendezvous navigation program. This helps refine the accuracy of the onboard rendezvous navigation.

The docking system will currently be working to 'dampen' out any residual motion between the two vehicles.

The crew will be looking for an the indication on their displays that the docking system 'Petals' have not moved for at least 60 seconds.

More than likely, or they would have shown the video from the ISS.

Unless they don't want HD video of potential TPS damage out to the world before they have a chance to go over the photos and make sure eveything is OK :)

Just wanted to say that its so addicting to watch.. here in Holland its 3:45 at night or morning and i keep watching lol.. The docking was cool.. First mission i saw live was sts-124 and now offcourse sts-126.. Too cool.. Thanks for all the cool caps!

STS78MEMBER, can you imagine how much time it takes to modify those tools to make them useable in cold hard vacuum of space though? $100k although steep seems to be a reasonable figure to me.

the reason those tools were so expensive...er($200,000).....is that they are all made completely of Titanium. I know someone who us to work on Launch Complex 39 said the workers have tools that they have used for years, and not even a scratch on them!

Perhaps we are faced with a alloy titanium-berilio (the berilio avoids the creation of sparks, very dangerous in certain circles). To me the cost of these tools seems absolutely reasonable, and in any case, better that a government spends so that in buying weapons.

Endeavour has boosted the station, to a higher orbit and away from any rogue tool-kits :)

There been a problem with testing the Water system, but it appears to a be a solvable problem. Something to do with Distillation system.
