Finished STS-98. That is certainly a tricky mission as far as the RMS ops are concerned. Not much clearence between RMS and the station.
It can be a bit easier if you inhibit the "REACH LIM" detection

I thought about turning off the soft stop, but did not. In the end I hit a reach limit only two or three times and it was not that troublesome. What was more troublesome was trying to avoid hitting the station with the upper or lower arm while moving the PMA in the various positions. It would have been much easier if the elbow joint could yaw and pitch like the shoulder. I wonder how much different the arm design would be if NASA were to redesigned it today?
