Windows 8 Compatability
« on: February 06, 2013, 05:40:37 AM »
Has anyone yet run SSM 2007 on Windows 8, and if so has anyone had any issues.  I've got the upgrade on my desk ready to install, but the upgrade advisor has no info on SSM 2007.

Hi, mborgia!

I was wondering the something too! I'm not sure if SSM 2007 will work with Windows 8 or not, but I'm sure the new SSMS 2 will probably work on windows 8.

            Cheers,

Why bother with Windows 8? If you have anything from XP days it will cease functioning. Stick with either XP or 7, at least for 18 months. Usually all the insectoids are quashed by then.

I use my computers for a lot of work applications.  Given how much emphasis is placed on security these days, my company requires that all my software, including Windows be the most current version.

For those planning to upgrade or buy a new PC, at least I have found that the current version of Space Shuttle Mission works just fine with Windows 8

Hi, mborgia!

That is good news! I'm glad the SSM 2007 runs fine on Windows 8!

There is no need to change to Windows 8 only because it's the new OS by Microsoft. This time they screwed up worse than ever before. There are no major advantages over Windows 7, and for people with software from XP-days it might be lots of disadvantages. If you have a tablet PC you might like Windows 8. Otherwise don't touch it. Almost everyone who tested it says it's bad. And most reviews say so either.

Since I am very pleased with Windows 7, I won't change to, nor test Windows 8.

But in the end it's peoples choice.

Hi, Moonwalker!

My advice is it is better to buy a new computer that have windows 8 per-installed rather than upgrade your Windows 7 to windows 8.

Actually there are substantial advantages to Windows 8.  Because it was designed for the lower powered processors of tablets and smart phones, it runs much faster and smoother on my PC than did Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

I was also delighted to find that some of my oldest programs, including a very old version of Photoshop that I first ran on Windows 3.1, still runs fine on Windows 8

Hi, Guys!

Question for you, how do I install the SSM2007 on to Windows 8. I thought I'd better ask because from what I understand, Windows 8 is different than Windows 7. Currently right now, I'm using Windows 7. Thanks!
