What parts of the SCOM should I print out and use?

I decided to take the advice given in the Commander's Reference Manual and looked up the Shuttle Crew Operations Manual. I want to print out the parts that best pertain to SSM 2007 - specifically because I don't have nearly enough ink, paper and money to print the whole thing, despite how much I'd like to.

Any suggestions as to which parts I should focus on and print?

Although this is from a somewhat older version of the SCOM, most of the information in there is still valid (and valuable for us simnauts).

You can also do a Freedom of Information Request for one. That is how I got mine. Takes several weeks to get to you, though, and it comes on a CD, not a printed manual.

NASA is easy to work with for FOIA requests, unless you request photos from a DOD flight, like when I requested photos of the tile inspection from STS-27.

Printing out the SCOM is not really something I'd recommend. It's too large. There's a reason it's supplied in PDF format. Copies are retained in a hard-copy format for reference and training I guess, but if you just want something to read on a cold winter's night then you may as well just get an e-book reader or use your laptop.

Or, if you wee ink or crap toner, then you can print it and ignore everything I'm saying.

The SCOM is online in its entirety and looks like the latest version at:

Look under the heading Generic Flight data files and click on the link -

"+ Shuttle Crew Operations Manual (PDF 41.1 Mb)".

It covers OI-33 which is the latest version I could find ANYWHERE.

That's a very useful site anyway; if you look there's a load of manuals that cover stuff not in the SCOM (I'd particularly recommend the Data Processing System Dictionary and the Controllers' Workbook.  The latter is not, as you might think, to do with the ground-based controllers, but instead is to do with using the RHC and THC.

Also if you look at the top of the page and click on the link "Documents from previous shuttle flights" you will find RL checklists for every shuttle mission to date!

Just a note: my copy (revised 1 August 2008) is 1157 pages... Is it the last copy or are there others?
