I've been progressing through the missions by difficulty...

Hi.

When I started out with SSM07 I figured it might be a good idea to do all the 1-star missions first, then the 2-star ones and so on, since I was as green as can get with the sim. Now I'm well into the 3-star ones, and I must say that I'm having alot less trouble with these ones, than I had when I started with the sim. STS-51A(the one with the "For Sale" sign) went by like a dream. No sweat at all. Does this sound familiar to anyone? :P Shouldn't it be the other way around, or maybe I've gotten a little bit better at this? :P

Hi there neighbor...  ;D

I did exactly the same when I was new but a little while ago I started a new profile and now Im flying the mission in chronological order. So yes I think you have learned more and more and become a really good Shuttle Commander. ;)

Keep up the good work, and see you on orbit... ;)

I'm going through the missions in difficulty order too, however I think after this one (STS-121) I may go in chronological order for the remaining ones. I definately think it's a learning thing. early on there were times where I just didn't have a clue...then I read the manual...for that bit ;D

Hallo ;)

Yes, I think that might be my next move; starting all over and do the missions chronologically :) But I think starting with the easy ones was helpful. A good tip to anyone who's starting out with the sim... :)

I wanted to do them in number order, so I followed STS-1 with STS-8, STS-41C, and STS-51A. That was a steep difficulty curve, but it didn't cause me any significant problems. Of course, this was in NOVICE mode, but I still had to negotiate relatively complicated tasks like station keeping with orbiting objects, grappling satellites without the help of provided joint angles, use of the MMU etc.

I am currently waiting for the next service pack to be released before I start my eleventh mission (STS-93 Columbia).

I never read the manual for anything I get. I just do it till I figure it out.

Mogget, I think you should wait till Admin's final word. But I believe you can press ahead with STS-93. It doesn't sound like the SP is imminent.

I would agree with Uri. We would have heard about the features by now if it was coming anytime soon and there hasn't been any updates on their twitter and facebook so I would press on and if I am not mistaking STS-93 is a fast mission. I can't remember. They all cram together now. :)

I just love reading manuals!  It's part of my job, at work, to learn more and more daily so this would be no different..

Since the new features are pretty major, don't expect that SP to be releases "very soon" so you may just finish any mission you want, with the caveat that when the new SP is released, you'll WANT to redo all the relevant missions just for the fun of it :). We are still a few weeks away from SP's release, depending on how fast the BTs are (some of them are on a well-deserved vacation) and how fast we are in fixing what they report.

The upcoming changes affect most missions (so no, it's not the shut-down procedure which would have affected ALL missions <VBG>). We hope to make an announcement soon to allow you to prepare and to make the waiting more bearable for some. AMOF, we've just released a new, major Beta to the nagging gang (AKA Beta Team) and we're keeping our fingers crossed.
