"NASA GPC Ops Manual"
« on: April 05, 2008, 06:16:29 AM »
Admin has a link (http://shuttlepayloads.jsc.nasa.gov/training/pdf/DPSj4.pdf) for a training manual from NASA.  The link no longer works.

The manual is: "NASA GPC Ops Manual" it's 239 pages, explaining the GPC interaction, modes, screens, codes, etc.

I'm hoping someone has a copy that they can send me or have admin put it in a download.  I can really use the help.

Please.
Peter

Thanks for the heads up! NASA has the nasty habit of moving these files around so we cannot guarantee them.

We cannot post ANYTING from NASA - that would be potentially infringing their copyright. Sorry.

If anybody has an active link to the GPC Ops manual, then please post it and I'll update the links.

Thank you!

General58,

I thank you for the offer.  Another member already has sent me the manual (actually 2 different manuals from NASA).

It's a shame NASA has broken the link.  The "NASA GPC Ops Manual" should be required reading for SSM2007.  Do you want to know what all the information is on the CRT screens?  This really helps.

I'm not sure about copyright laws so I've not mentioned my source.

Dear Admin,
Is there a way to get this manual back on this forum?  It really is a must have.

Peace & Health,
Peter

I would assume they wont mind ssm having it hosted if they cite NASA as the source. Something along the lines of "Courtsey of NASA" or "Document Copyright by NASA". Otherwise... quick letter to their press rep requesting permission to host the DPS manual should do.

This is a no-no. We have been explicitly forbidden to post any of their stuff online or distribute it in any way.

Sorry,

You can download from NASA Spaceflight (http://nasaspaceflight.com). It costs a little money but you can get a lot of information from the site.

I always suggest to go to Amazon, do a search for "Space Shuttle Manuals" and buy that DVD with all the set. last time I looked, it was @US$50.

Or try L2 as well guys,
I signed up for 20$ for two months, and the amount of information available is so well worth the money!

Even the mission control panel manuals are available for instance.

It would be nice if someone could get and post the new correct link to NASA website so that we can download the manual free ( I have been searching but no results so far). :(
Don't see the reason why we should pay for something that might be available in the official website and costs zero.

Agree. I've registered with L2 and searched their VIP forums but they don't seem to carry this particular document either. I may have missed it however.

Until...

So as not to violate copyright laws for the aprox. 350 page manual I was given a NASA link from for a larger almost 700 page manual (complete) or each section can be downloaded individually.  The text sure does a lot to explain what's going on, especially the CRT screens.

http://www.shuttlepresskit.com/STS-103/scom.htm

It will still be nice if the smaller manual can be located for our use.

Enjoy,
Peter
