Hi,

I know that Space Shuttle Mission 2007 doesn't simulate the shuttles shutdown procedure. However, a few people asked for this documentation. Since aloper was good enough to provide everyone here with this information, I decided to dissect NASA's Post Landing Procedure and I attached it to the checklist.

The checklist is now four pages in length if printed front and back.

Thank you for the checklists...your work is appreciated.

As an FS enthusiast as yourself, I am a big fan of doing things "by the book", so the more switches to flip the better. I'm curious though... Since I just bought this sim, I have not reached the point of landing yet (I like to take my time and learn the systems). When you say that the shutdown procedures are not simulated...to what extent? Does the mission just end when you land without providing the time to perform the shutdown procedures? Or is it a matter of the sim not responded to procedures outlined in the shutdown checklist? Any info is appreciated.

Hello ATG,

In the current version of SSM2007, the mission ends after you land and come to a stop on the runway. Although the mission is technically over at that point, the sim continues to run. To end the mission, you have to select "quit mission" from the menu. The "shutdown" procedures that the Command and Pilot perform after wheels stop in the real shuttle are not currently simulated in SSM2007. But, because the sim still runs after landing, you can perform them if you like.

Shutdown procedures is something we put on our "nice-to-haves" to be released as a future Service Pack.

Thanks for the reply.  Thats great news indeed; So we can perform shutdown procedures, it just doesn't count towards the mission goal and no built in checklist text. I would hardly call that not simulated.  :)

Yes, as long as the GPC's and switches react the way their supposed to, I would call that simulated.

Nice work on the checklists. They'll come in real handy when I go to do films and harder difficulty.

What is "ELS"?

I was wondering the same also....I think it means Emergency Landing Site. One of the pros here will correct me if I'm wrong.
