Shuttle Graphic mistake
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:03:51 PM »
I wish I knew how to upload a picture of this, but I will try to tell you how to find it. Ok  here it goes, on the front of the shuttle, to be more specific the front landing gear doors. They are not put in correctly, and as such they are misaligned. There is a gape between the doors, basically it looks very ugly. You need to zoom in, and move the camera around to get a better look. I hope this will be fixed in the next Patch, because in real life you would be toast on reentry, lol. Also I have heard talk of a high res earth coming soon. Is this true? If so I can't wait, the earth looks good but rather cartoonish, don't get me wrong I think it all looks good. But a Photo real earth would really set this sim apart form the rest and set the standard for all to follow, not that it doesn't all ready set the standard. I am a disabled vet, and all my life I Have loved space exploration. I remember an old arcade game that I would play as a child. It was a lunar lander and you had to try to land it on the moon with out crashing it. Needless to say that was in the early 80's and you can imagine the graphics from then. But I have always longed to see a sim like this out there, I am also proud of the fact that this sim honors our space  explorers past and present, even the fallen ones, may they all rest in peace.  So for a job well done this old Airforce dog salutes all the creators and members of Space Shuttle Missions 2007. Thinks for encouraging our next generation of explorers. God Speed to all of you.

Hey Conan,

Thanks for the warm words - they are appreciated. And our salute to you for your contribution to the Air Force.

Regarding Earth res. We are considering this of course but that's a tough one. We explained somewhere else on this forum what the real problems are with a higher res Earth (download size and higher system specs to run them, being some of them) but the jury is still out on this one.

Regarding "photo-real" Earth. Our textures ARE photoreal! We have created them from licensed 1km/pix color satellite pictures used by Google Earth from Terrametrics Inc. They are color-normalized and contrast -enhanced by Terrametrics Inc. so these are the best full-Earth pictures you can get today (for a game) short of paying A LOT of money for licensing a 15m/pix Earth from the same company :-).

Have fun in space!
